Hi reader,

I am a graduate of an English-language grammar school, a university student, and a young woman who grew up around Irish, American, and British people.

As a child, I was once discouraged by a teacher who claimed that not everyone is capable of learning a foreign language. Nonsense — it is always possible.

Even though the level of education has been improving, I believe that English teaching is still outdated in many ways. Textbooks may be written better now, but practice is just as important.

Each of us has a hobby we can build on — whether it’s music, films, TV series, books, travelling, sports, history, or politics.

I believe that an individual approach is key to building a genuine relationship with a language — one that truly opens doors to the world, quite literally.

I am currently gaining experience as a volunteer at an integration centre, where I tutor a young girl from primary school. It works beautifully there too, and we are making great progress — so why
