About me

My name is Kateřina and I have been working with children since I was 12 years old. Children naturally seek me out – I am cheerful, active and creative, so they feel safe and content with me. I love when I can teach children something, motivate them, create a nice childhood with them and at the same time give them structure and security.

My beginnings

Even before I went abroad, my neighbors' children often came to my place. It wasn't a classic babysitting job – they would sometimes come to visit the neighbors and enjoy playing with me.
A three-year-old girl used to come to my place regularly until she was 10 years old, we would play, draw with chalk, make bubbles or make bracelets, cook, dance, listen to music, go for walks, and swim in the summer.
I also helped with children's day activities and sometimes played with a little boy from the neighbors, whom I taught to ride a bike, among other things.

Experience from the Netherlands, Enschede - family with a little girl

My first major experience abroad was taking care of a 2.5-year-old girl.

Our day started with playing, singing songs, doing crafts, going for walks or doing a little shopping. If we watched a fairy tale, I always chose something that would develop the child - I don't want the children to just passively sit in front of the TV. I want them to have fun, think and be happy about it.

I mostly babysat from 7:30 to 17:00. After half a year, the family got a place in a kindergarten, so my job ended.

A short experience with a 15-year-old autistic girl

I spent half a year helping a family with a girl with autism. Although the work enriched me, in the future I want to work with children without special needs.

A year's stay with a Dutch family - a boy aged 2.5 to 3.5

I gained the most experience during a year's work with a Dutch family, where I took care of a very active boy.
With my little boy, I:
• read books
• made decorations and various products
• went outside, to the playground, to the mini zoo, to the children's playrooms and to swim
• played football, rode his bike with him
• baked, cooked, cleaned and taught him to participate in simple household activities
• taught him about nature, holidays, colors and everyday things

His parents asked me to teach him English — we used Miss Rachel on YouTube and worksheets that I printed for him. At the age of three, he could speak English very well.
The family communicated in English and Dutch, so I also improved my knowledge of these languages a lot.

The little boy was very active and sometimes "everywhere". Thanks to this, I learned to create a structure for his day that helped him be calmer, sleep better and not get bored. So I also have experience in leading children who need a little more attention and rhythm.

In addition to taking care of the child, I also helped with the running of the entire household — laundry, cleaning, preparing meals, and taking care of the dogs. I even babysat the little boy overnight a few times.

My approach to children
• I want the child to be happy, enthusiastic, and feel safe.
• I care that every day he has movement, play, creativity, and peace.
• I prefer active play to passive watching TV – if there are fairy tales, then those that teach the child something.
• I am creative, positive, smiling, and I always support children in what they enjoy.
• I give children understanding, patience, and security, not strictness — I believe more in kind guidance and clear rules.

I also have a first aid course certificate, which I successfully completed in the Netherlands.
